The newly formed St. Augustine Marching Band, a band founded by 2 PPJers (Laura and Chele) joined in the MLK march on MLK Day in St. Augustine. The parade wound through Lincolnville, the neighborhood where King organized for civil rights. The Marching Band led songs and provided music with drums, tambourines and one kazoo....the other kazoo broke down and only blew bubbles after going through a washing after practice the day before. The parade ended in the Plaza where there were memorial speeches and singing. Personally, I thought the attendance would have been a lot better because of MLK's 80th birthday and because of Obama's inauguration which took place the day after.
