Members of St. Augustine People for Peace and Justice joined some 2000 people in Orlando's Lake Eola Park, and the streets, as part of a nationwide demonstration held in cities across the country to demand an immediate end to the Iraq War/Occupation. One of our members, Peg McIntire, was a featured speaker. The event concluded with a march through the downtown business district, which had to be closed to "business as usual". Participants represented a broad segment of the political spectrum, including such diverse groups as Wage Peace and Students for a Democratic Society. In the heat during the speeches and in the rain during the march, we celebrated our common belief, a belief that WAR IS NOT THE ANSWER. We ARE the majority. We WILL end the madness!
