Iraq War 6th Anniversary, Daytona Beach Demonstration - 03/19/09

Members of the Central Florida Chapter of Veterans For Peace, the Florida Chapter of Military Families Speak Out, the East Central Florida Chapter of CODEPINK Women for Peace, the Florida Chapter of WeAreChange and members from the Volusia Peace Center in New Smyrna Beach came out to mark the 6th Anniversary of the US attack on, invasion of and continuing illegal military occupation of Iraq. Approximately 100 informational packets containing literature from all the participating groups and DVD copies of the new documentary from London filmmaker John Nada entitled "Wake Up Call" were handed out to interested passersby and passengers in vehicles stopped at the red light, as well as to people who stopped and parked their cars to join us. One such person was an Iraq War veteran who is very interested in joining Veterans For Peace so that he can do more to bring the war to an end and help bring his brothers-in-arms home. Afterwards, as we do every Thursday night after our weekly antiwar protest, many of the participants gathered at Steve's Famous Diner for good food and good conversation. One person at a time, we CAN change the world.
